These broken pieces just won't fit
My heart's just like a mirror
Shattered reflections show the pit
A heartache so severe
This empty space draws me to you
The black diamond with no sheen
Your phantom love was never true
My truth remains unseen
Inside my heart I see the light
But this warmth I can't convey
Your blackened door I've painted white
I'm not strong enough to stay away
To you this anguished heart is chained
But not by destiny
By bloody deeds freedom is gained
Tired eyes can finally see
You couldn't stand a love so pure
A world you couldn't view
My wavering grasp became secure
The looking glass broke you
My heart's just like a mirror
Shattered reflections show the pit
A heartache so severe
This empty space draws me to you

Something You Couldn't Stop
Sometimes when it's very dark, sometimes when the air becomes infected with deadly silence, sometimes when all I can feel is coldness and pain and sometimes when life seems to solidify into uncaring concrete, I hear your voice. Just yours, whispering into my ear.
And you only ever say two words.
"Carry on."
This murmur in my ear allows some light to filter in through the darkness, it shatters the silence, melts the ice, soothes away bitter pain and brings softness back into my world. Only these words are never true, they sound in my head but never in my ears. Because

The Death Within Life
Raging Seas
Dark skies
Endless tears
Cold fires
That is what life is.
No fairy godmothers
or knights in shining armor.
Only witches and cauldrons
recipes for disaster.
There are no three wishes
or steeds that fly.
No hero, no powers,
certainly no rewinds.
Life is but time
flowing forward.
Spent by little moments
we call ours.
It is never enough,
not once.
Fragments engraved
they're left to remain.
Not even our mind, our knowledge
can prolong our hours.
To live them as they come
seconds remembered, never forgotten.
To let them pass
by our envy and our pride.
No wonder we are fools
both then and now.
Not one of us

there comes an evening
each october
when spring is broken:
winter sweeps back in,
swallowing the coast.
the hours are drawn,
long, and quiet -- save
for storming wind --
where pride recedes
to leave the heart
ill-watched, unguided,
for this eve only,
to remember what it has lost.
hands, thick with cold,
shallow-lung'd and lonely,
waiting for chamomile to steep,
sleep to steal:
as the night ticks through
each moment is meticulous,
sliced clean from next
by key-stroke --
throat-formed,
shaped on tongue to fit:
each syllable is moulded
carefully composed,
pressed to curves by thumb
and folded
until, at last,
something of beauty is wrought

I was inspired by the song "Not Strong Enough" by Apocalyptica. So I took the title and turned it into something of my own. There is only one conscious reference to the song in the actual poem, if there are others it is by chance, as I havn't actually read the lyrics.
My work is often inspired by music, but the majority of the time I'll simply take the feeling I get from the music, I'll take the vibe. And then I'll try and turn it into something. But either way, I'm really happy how this one turned out. I hope you enjoy it.
